Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. She is best known as the lead in Prince's 1984 Purple Rain film and lead vocalist in the girl group Apollonia 6 The actor and singer named Apollonia by Prince was one of the many female performers in the 1980s that benefited from her connection with the Purple One. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as an actress and model. in the latter half of the 1970s, she appeared on CHiPS. In 1984, Patricia Kotero was cast as the leading woman in the movie Prince's Purple Rain. (During this period, she also changed her surname) Her replacement was Vanity of the female group Vanity 6 which starred in the film alongside Apollonia 6 under their name. They scored a small success with the film Sex Shooter, but it was as Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she had a greater chart impact. Kotero's relationship with Prince was ended after the two were at odds over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the group that she belonged to, ended up splitting. She was later seen in a few minor roles during the time (reportedly refusing to take part on The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to landing in the role of a nighttime television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia released her first album in 1988, however it was not a great album of dance music and R&B that did not really attract the attention of the general audience. The album was quickly wiped completely from the public's view. She remained active (if somewhat under the radar) as an actress during the decade that followed, with a few film roles on television and released videos for exercises. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English entitled Stay with me in 1997. She returned to the school, received a diploma in making films. Then she founded her firm and began working in children's TV. Apollonia has many jobs. She was a model, actress, and manager of talent. She is well-known for her part in the 1984 movie Purple Rain. Other films and shows that she appeared in include Black Magic Woman and The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model. Kotero was a contestant in a variety of pageants.
