Catherine Ford was born Bloomsbury in London. Because her father had left the family, it was looked after by her grandmother, mom, and godparents. Ford was suffering from anxiety disorder based on the word association when she was a toddler. Ford was first fascinated by acting when she was a teenager, and she joined the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted to the Sylvia Young Theatre School. After just a month, she decided that it wasn't for her. Ford reapplied to Central School of Speech and Drama and, on her fourth attempt she was admitted. A classmate of hers included Shaun Dingwall, who would be later reprise her role as Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford could graduate in 1993. However, she already had her TV debut in the 1992 episode Surgical Spirit. She adopted the title Catherine Tate. Tate was seen in television programs like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning in the Nineties. Her regular work in theatre has led to her joining the Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 Season. But Tate was soon gaining notice for her stand-up comedy that she incorporated into her resume in the year 1996.
